When I was 10 years old, I was first introduced to the sport of karting when I drove my first laps at an empty parking lot and fell instantly in love with the sport. Less than a year later I was making practice laps at the professional Strijen Circuit. In 1993, I started in the Mini League followed by Junior League, in which I had my first successes.

At the age of 14 I became a member of Peter de Bruin’s karting team and stayed there for several seasons to drive in the ICA and Formula A Leagues. In 2000 I moved to the Dutch Formula Arcobaleno League and two years later, in 2002, I took part in the distinguished Formula Renault 2000 championship. In 2003 I moved to the Formula 3000. In my succesful rookie year a 2nd place was my best result and it earned me a seat as first driver at the Draco Junior Team for the 2004 European f3000 Series. At the end of this season, I grabbed the European championship title through a sensational win at the last race at the Nurburgring in Germany.

This excellent result gave me a Formula 1 test at Minardi and also opened the doors to the Champ Car World Series where I had a very successful test with Walker Racing in December 2004. In 2005 I was appointed official Jordan/Midland Grand Prix test driver and was the first driver in the Young Driver Development Program of Midland F1.

My single seater story continues in 2006 as I raced for Rocketsports Racing in the Bridgestone presents the Champ Car World Series powered by Ford. Then I made the switch to sportscars where I enjoyed three great years with the Vici team.

In 2010 I joined the All-Inkl.com team in the FIA GT1 World Championship and will continue to drive for them in 2011. This year (2011) my focus will be on the American Le Mans Series with the West Racing Team and the Lamborghini Galardo LP560 and to keep driving for the All-Inkl.com team.
